Christopher Soto Puerto Rico, 1986 Hypnos’ Dream (2021) Mixed Media 36” x 48” This painting is based on artist Christopher Soto’s own dream. Hypnos, Greek god of sleep appears in the artist’s dream flying among Koi Fish and shimmering bubbles of gold. The inspiration of this painting is based on the Greek god Hypnos and Sigmund Freud hypnosis theory, which is represented by the black and white symbols of hypnosis. The symbols in this painting depict: 1) the gold circles represent our Universe as it continues to align our future with good luck, wealth, healing, illumination, happiness, and achievement. 2) Koi fish in dreams represent tenacity, perseverance, patience, and courage to show you how to succeed when you live without fear 3) Hypnos is up in the sky looking down to Earth as a representation of grandness, power and control over his own future.
